Port au Prince, Haiti. 2019
OHMaSS is the local partner organization for PSI, a major NGO providing family planning health care services in countries with developing economies including Haiti. In cooperation with PSI, OHMaSS provides family planning services throughout Haiti. By 2018, OHMaSS had to accommodate its dramatic staff expansion by increasing space utilization within its existing headquarters space in Port au Prince.
T4 was selected thru an international tender to provide a package of open plan and private office workstations based on a space plan and furniture proposal that addressed the customer’s objectives. T4 turned to its two major manufacturers, Teknion Furniture and Global Total Office to supply a package of state-of-the-art open plan workstations, appropriate private office furniture, and meeting spaces that incorporated the latest teleconferencing technologies.
T4’s open plan workstation design considered that the fact that many of OHMaSS staff spent considerable time out of the office delivering training and education. And when in office, the staff needed some privacy for concentration and writing tasks within the limitations of the headquarters space. The customer wanted seated height privacy using a “desk based / benched based” system and not one relying on a panel / screen-based system. Panel based systems furniture, the customer felt, would be more difficult to undertake on the fly reconfigurations and redesigns in the future. In response to the customer’s concerns, T4 used a shared “benching” design using Teknion’s “Expansion” shared desking collection and 37” / 900mm high privacy screens.
